About Tom Mooney
Tom was born and raised outside of Philadelphia and spent his formative years living on a boat in Cape May, New Jersey. When he was still in grade school, his parents decided to make the move to Scottsdale, Arizona where he has been ever since. After graduating Saguaro High School in 1988, he got dual degrees from Phoenix Institute of Technology in architecture and graphic design. After working for a few small drafting companies, he started as a draftsman for Urban Design Associates and eventually worked his way to project manager. Several years later, he expanded his knowledge by working as architectural director for Maracay Homes and then eventually again as designer/project manager for Calvis-Wyant Luxury Homes until launching Mooney Design Group in 2002.
Tom maintains ties to the Philly area with several family members still living there, and tries to get back to visit them often. His wife of almost 30 years, Jodi, hails from rural Minnesota, and they also travel there to visit family as well. In fact, Tom loves to travel and often gets inspiration for design when visiting other places and cultures. You might see hints of London, Paris, Ireland, Normandy, and Costa Rica woven into designs right along with domestic locales that have lent inspiration such as northern Idaho, Hawaii, Telluride, the Midwest and the East Coast.
Tom has a soft spot for dogs and cats, and likes to spend time with them along with family and friends, relaxing by the pool, or on a local adventure here in the Phoenix area.
He takes pride in providing thoughtful designs and obsesses over details, setting himself apart from the average design company. He is very thorough in his approach to ensure you get the home YOU want, but he also goes out of his way to make sure your choices will make you happy for years to come. He is honest, up front, and his experience in the luxury home market means you can trust his guidance will provide you with a home you will be proud to live in.
